Christie Clinic Laboratory Services
For your convenience, our satellite laboratories are available for most standard laboratory needs. All specimens are prepared and then sent by courier each day to our main laboratory for processing. The trips to and from the clinics vary for each location, as do the types of tests ordered by your provider. This can affect whether your needs can be met at a satellite location or our main laboratory at Christie Clinic in Champaign on University. If you arrive after our courier leaves the clinic, the specimens will not be taken to our lab for testing until the following business day at the regular courier run.
There are instances when we request blood draws and certain tests be performed at either Christie Clinic in Champaign on University or Christie Clinic in Champaign on Windsor. Examples of these instances may include tests that require:
- Need for unusual processing or supplies
- Short turnaround time for scheduled procedures (within 24 hours)
- Not routine
Some testing requires different processing that may take a lot longer or cannot be held overnight. In order to ensure quality testing, not all testing can be collected every day after 5:00 p.m. There are different requirements for each tests which dictate the proper handling and storage.
